Top 10 Things To Give Up To Move Forward

People will always tell you that there’s something wrong with your life if it isn’t like the perfect existence that they lead. The reality is, each one of us has issues and there are things that everyone can give up to live a more fulfilling lifestyle. If you’ve not been handed any lemons, everything is going exactly as you had planned and you honestly don’t think there are any areas of improvement, then this article isn’t for you; your life is perfect so keep it up 🙂 Here are 10 things you can give up to move forward:

  1. Shame of past failures: your past does not equal your future; let it go and concentrate on the things that you can change
  2. Not appreciating the NOW: your past is history and the future is not promised, appreciate the now of everything for it is now that you know you truly exist
  3. Overlooking the positives: always be thankful for the good things in your life, no matter how small they may seem. If you’re reading this, the likelihood is that your life is better than the majority of people on the planet
  4. Procrastinating: stop putting off what’s important! “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”Chinese Proverb
  5. Doing nothing: sometimes doing nothing is good, but always doing nothing is not. Choose to use each day to move forward towards your goals as even small steps add up. “You don’t try to build a wall. You don’t set out and say ‘I’m gonna build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that has ever been built’. You say ‘I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid’. You do this every single day, and soon you have a wall.”Will Smith
  6. Being indecisive: you can’t move forward if you don’t make a choice in direction. A change of direction on the way is OK, but you have to start somewhere
  7. Burying your head in the sand: we all have problems, the sooner you face up and tackle them head on, the sooner you will be able to put them behind you. There’s no better feeling than starting to shift some of the emotional baggage that comes with hiding from your issues
  8. Making excuses: if you take positive actions, what excuses do you need to make? Control your own outcomes
  9. Worrying what other people think: forget about what other people think of you, that’s their business not yours. Get on with your own thing and you’ll soon realise that their thoughts have no real relevance. What you think about yourself is what truly counts
  10. Needing to be right:  you don’t always need to be right, aim for success but never give up your right to be wrong
